The brief
A young family with two small children had been searching for a home in the Forest district for over a year without success. Balancing inspections with two little ones was close to impossible. They were ready to move on from a two-bedroom apartment in Lane Cove, and beyond the need for space they had one particular requirement: a home that could comfortably welcome parents visiting from overseas for extended stays.
Our approach
Rather than starting with a form, we started with a conversation and a few homes they liked, and refined the brief from there through honest feedback. We attended open homes on their behalf and sent detailed video walkthroughs with the pros and cons of each, and we joined them at inspections to talk through renovation potential and what would work for the family without leaving them living in a construction site. When the right property came up, we handled the bidding at auction and advised them to hold their nerve. Any offer beforehand would have meant paying more than the home was worth, so we let the auction run and negotiated once it had passed in.
The outcome
We secured a home considerably larger than they had expected, and at a price that surprised them. By trusting the process and going to auction rather than around it, our clients saved a significant sum and finished with a better result than they had hoped for.
